“Grizzy” is a new client of ours that suffers from a disorder known as Megaesophagus or “Mega.”
Simply put, Grizzy’s throat muscles don’t work to get the food down to his stomach, so he needs to eat standing upright on the counter. Afterward, he has to sit with paws upright on a lazy chair for 20-30 mins.

Grizzy requires a special diet that must be specially prepared. Side effects of Megaesophagus include regurgitation and as is typical of animals with Mega, Grizzy has to sleep with a “neck hug” (neck pillow.)
At Whisker Watchers, we have a thorough onboarding process for pets that require special medical or physical attention and as an added bonus, all of our pet sitters are Pet First Aid Certified and trained in dealing with pet emergencies.
We’ve established excellent relationships with local veterinarians and provide all clients with a printout of our Standard Operating Procedures for dealing with pet emergency scenarios.
